Division for Applied Social Psychology Research (DASPR) is a group of scholar-activists driven to help to tackle social problems, especially for intergroup conflicts, humanitarian issues, and violent extremism. Social psychology perspectives and method are used as a tool: to understand how people think, influence and relate to one another in a societal context and everyday discourses; and to modify, guide, as well as intervene people’ minds and behaviors, especially into more humanize.
It was very beneficial for us especially for terrorism convicts or their families. As a result of DASPR activity, terrorism convicts and their families received more attention. Hopefully, DASPR activity with convicts, ex-convicts, and their family can continue so they don’t go back to the radical group
DASPR had organized important deradicalization program in Indonesia. DASPR must spread the program result to the community. Congratulation for the launch of the website so that the program can benefit the community.
I’m grateful, lucky, and honored to become part of one of DASPR activities, which is visiting the family of terrorism convicts as part of research and social empowerment. In my opinion, the presence of DASPR in a community afflicted with increasingly complex psychosocial problems must be appreciated. Especially since DASPR has the courage to sincerely provide assistance to the ummahat, a name for the wives of terrorism convict, who are a group or a community that has been socially stigmatized. The presence of DASPR brings positive impact in increasing the quality of their relationship between the families and their community. Hopefully, DASPR will continue to exist in the community with other humanitarian/social programs.
Some time ago, the Search for Common Ground organization that I lead had a chance to collaborate with DASPR to organize activities related to curriculum development, training of trainers and Conflict Management Training-Life Management Training (CMT-LMT) if several prisons. I found that the DASPR staff are professional in their field and deserve to be the center of excellence in the development of applied psychology in Indonesia and even Asia. I really enjoy working with them because they are efficient and best results oriented. DASPR has a big opportunity to be the leading institution in Asia and even the world, especially in the field of rehabilitation of radicalized individuals.
